Zapp Materials Engineering GmbH in Ratingen with its two product areas, Tooling Alloys and High Performance Alloys, have been merged into Zapp Precision Metals GmbH effective 01 January 2022.
2021
Relocation of the Tooling Alloys Service Center from Gurnee, Illinois, USA to a larger location in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Greater Chicago.
2020
Establishment of a new service centre for special materials and high-performance materials in Unna. New shipping hall at the Schwerte location and expansion of the service center in Taicang.
2019
Opening of a new sales location in Pune, India. Expansion of the Sandviken location with additional facilities.
2018
Zapp Group takes over the Sandvik Wire division in Sandviken, Sweden on September 1st. New construction of the conference center in Schwerte.
2017
New 5800 m² hall for the relocation of the Specialty Materials Service Center from Ratingen to Schwerte.
2016
The competence from technological knowledge, production system and quality assurance are transferred from the Schwerte location to the new bar steel production in the USA at the Summerville, South Carolina, location.
2013
Uniform appearance of all companies in Germany under Zapp Precision Metals GmbH and Zapp Materials Engineering GmbH.
2012
New construction of the burned-down hall and complete renovation of the adjacent halls.
New production center for highly demanding medical applications.
2011
The entire strip production from the Schwerte location is complemented through high investments in a new rolling mill at the Unna location.
2009
The Summerville, South Carolina, location in the United States is expanded by the foundation of Zapp Tooling Alloys, Inc. Opening of the new service center in Taicang, China.
2008
The product range is expanded through the purchase of Ferd. Wagner GmbH in Pforzheim and Hong Kong. Profile and flat wires as well as the of components product group are added.
2007
The East Coast USA Service Center is founded in Stratford, Connecticut. The focus is on the processing of strip products.
2005
Expansion of the Ergste location to become a center of excellence for wires, bars and profiles, especially for applications in the automotive and medical technology.
2000
Establishment of the second production facility in the USA. The new location in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, focuses on strip production under Zapp Precision Strip, Inc.
1998
All companies in the Zapp Group are united under Zapp AG.
1996
Establishment of the first production facility in the USA. Zapp Precision Wire, Inc. and Zapp Tooling Alloys, Inc. are founded at the Summerville location in South Carolina.
1995
Start of the strategically oriented internationalization of the Zapp Group with new foreign production and service center locations for strips, wires, bars and profiles in the USA, UK and China. Development of a worldwide sales organization.
1991
The Westig steelworks in Unna is taken over. The product ranges at the Schwerte and Unna locations complement each other and internationalization is initiated.
1982
Robert Zapp Werkstofftechnik receives the distribution rights for the powder metallurgical high-performance material series CPM®.
1955
Introduction of high-tech-, nickel- and cobalt-based materials into the material portfolio.

Takeover of shares in the steelworks Ergste by Robert Zapp at the Schwerte location.

Robert Zapp receives exclusive distribution rights for Krupp tooling steel.
