Our »near net shape« profiles ensure the minimum of expenditure on machining. Over 5000 differently shaped stainless profiles speed up the process of finding ideas – ranging from a small triangular stainless profile with a length per side of 0.01" (0.3 mm) to a 2.48"x 0.25" (63 mm x 6.35 mm) flat profile, both made to customers’ drawings. With a broad spectrum of shaping technologies at our disposal such as drawing and rolling, we can cold-form even exceptionally complex profile shapes. For measuring purposes, we use mechanical or optoelectronic scanning for our stainless profile. Depending on customers’ requirements, we can supply bars in lengths up to 354.33" (9000 mm), in rings or on spools. Our toolroom is equipped with the latest CNC processing machines and holds 12000 tools in store. This saves time and promotes the punctual delivery of shipments.

The challenges of the future are known. Among other things, they concern energy, the environment, health and efficiency. That’s why the development of fuel cells is being pushed forward. For the same reason, a new generation of engines with exceptionally high combustion temperatures will come into existence. New desalination plants will be developed, new technologies for the exploration of oil and natural gas fields and new processing techniques for a new generation of medicines. All this is leading to an extensive exchange of experience of the qualities in the pyramid of materials – nickel, nickel- and cobalt-based alloys and chromium-nickel stainless steels

ASP-2000-Steels
The ASP® process is a powder metallurgical technique, comprising hot isostatic pressing of rapidly solidified gas atomised powder. A material of homogeneous distribution of the components of the steel is obtained. During gas atomization, the melt is disintegrated by powerful jets of nitrogen gas into small droplets. The powder is collected in a steel capsule which is subsequently evacuated and welded.
CPM-Steels
CPM processing technique for fine cutting steels, Crucible, high alloyed cold-worked
steels. innovative powder metallurgical alloys, pm-steels rich in vanadium
or fine cutting steels, patented; highest performance requirements
Advantages CPM/ASP - pm-steels
The highest alloy levels can be achieved without any adverse effect on mechanical characteristics. The uniform distribution of carbides and absence of metallurgical defects increase security against fracture and fatigue strength. The volume and hardness of the carbides increase resistance to abrasive and adhesive wear. Machining ability is improved as a result of the small globular carbides.Powder metallurgical steels are free of segregations. This leads to substantially improved dimensional stability. Tools need less remachining.Excellent polishing and EDM machining capabilities result from the highest possible degree of purity, known as »Ultra Clean«.
Economy calculation PM-steels powder

Flawless quality is not achieved automatically.
Not infrequently, Zapp precision products and high performance materials are used in applications in which they are stressed almost to the limit of their technical capabilities. This is only possible with outstanding product quality. At Zapp, each production batch is subject to precisely laid down manufacturing and testing instructions, from the raw material stage, through manufacture, to shipment on time. Quality standards are laid down for the production processes for over 40,000 products to ensure that the material characteristics required by the individual customer are achieved. Every stage is accompanied by tests and inspections. Chemical metal analyses, technical tests and microscopic examinations of the fine structure of materials down to the µm range are carried out in our own test laboratory. Quality
What can you do if you need a precision engineered semi-finished product to a specification beyond what the market currently has to offer? It was to deal with queries of this nature that we set up our Research & Development Department. Even the best semi-finished products come up against their limits, even if only when they are required to accommodate entirely new demands. In such situations, many of our customers make use of the analytical and innovative resources of the Zapp R&D Department. Specialized test laboratories are available to our metallurgists and material developers in which mechanical/technological properties, structures, chemical compositions and corrosion resistance can be investigated. A variety of thermal processes can be simulated in a heat treatment laboratory. However much the tasks may vary, the objective is always the earliest possible fulfillment of your demands, through the introduction of new materials or process technologies. F & E
